A Message From Dennis Glennon
Imagine for a moment what kind of world it would be without our National parks and wild animals...
Just steel and concrete and no clean air to breath or precious animals to marvel at. The animals, especially, are part of a perfect eco-system Nature has designed. We abuse this system, causing damage and severe imbalance. Remove one element, and the entire structure falls apart. Sadly, this is what's happening. Our oceans, bays, rivers, and streams are filled with pollution. We even dump our garbage in the sea... or we burn it and fill the air with toxic smoke. Human disease is at an all-time high, reflective of the polluted environment we call Earth. We are destroying our home.
I am reminded of this constantly when I am out of the mainstream because the contrast is so definite and dramatic. When I visit the rural backwoods of our country, nature preserves, or our National Parks, I get to see and experience some remarkable things; things most of us don't enjoy on a regular basis --- but are supposed to be experiencing every day of our lives. I breathe crisp, clean mountain air that is filled with oxygen because trees still stand in abundance. I watch animals drink out of crystal clear streams and babbling brooks, knowing I can also drink that water safely. I sit in fields of plush green grass and listen to the warbles and trebles of bird songs. At night, I camp beside beautiful lakes and hear wolves howl at the moon. I've slept on a boat in an Alaskan Sound and been surrounded by whale as they slept beside me. I've fallen asleep to their hollow sounds as they talk to eachother. In other places, I've woken up to the sweet patter of water dripping from melting mountain snow, or found myself surrounded by caribou.
Our animals, and the land they live on, are treasures. We take for granted that these treasures will be around for our children and grandchildren. I am not so confident. The population of certain species is being reduced at a rapid rate. We have no right to do this, and yet, we are responsible. We are the cause. There is a saying that goes: "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem." If you do nothing at all to help prevent the destruction of our animals and untainted land, you contribute to that destruction.
One of the ways you can help protect wildlife is by purchasing a Limited Edition print from this website. Portions of print profits from all prints sold on my website, at my Fine Art Shows, and auctioned on Ebay, go to the animal and environmental organizations I support. You can find these groups listed on my Links of Distinction page.
Another way you can help is to contact these organizations directly and make a contribution.
I especially encourage you to donate to dog rescue, which rehabilitate and re-homes both mixed and pure breed dogs who are discarded or surrendered by their original owners. Dog Rescuers devote countless hours to this cause, relying on the assistance of volunteers and on the charitable donations of others. Please take a moment to visit their websites and learn more about their groups and how you can help. Again, purchasing any of my prints also enables these organizations to receive donation money, as a portion of your print purchase goes to dog rescue charities.
I am committed to spending my life taking pictures of the beautiful scenes I see in Nature. These scenes include the animals that live there. I am equally committed to protecting these animals and their homes. If we don't have these magnificent places to experience and enjoy, due to our own neglect and abuse, all we will have left are pictures of them, and that is a sad and scary thought.
Please help in any way you can.
